Get clients — with the free audit as your door-opener

Cold outreach works when you lead with value. You have an instant, personalised value asset: a free AI scan of their website.

Lead with their numbers, not your pitch

Every business owner ignores 'we're a marketing agency' messages. Almost none ignore a message about their own website. Your door-opener is the free scan: run their URL through the public scan tool, and you get their keyword opportunities, likely competitors, and three concrete quick wins — in thirty seconds, personalised, free to produce.

Your outreach message is then three sentences: what you noticed (one specific finding from the scan), what it means for them (a missed-revenue frame), and a low-friction ask ('happy to send the full breakdown — want it?'). No links in the first message. No pitch. You are a specialist who noticed something, not a vendor who wants something.

Build the pipeline like an operator

Work your list of twenty in the CRM: every prospect is a lead with a stage. New → contacted → engaged → qualified → won. Set the deal value to the annual retainer so your pipeline total means something. Notes on every touch. Ten personalised messages a day beats a hundred sprayed ones — the scan makes personalisation take one minute, which is the whole trick.

Channels, in order of effort-to-result for a beginner: direct message or email to owners in your niche; a weekly piece of genuinely useful niche content (your article engine makes this nearly free); asking the first yes for two referrals. That last one is where agencies actually grow.

The strategy call

When someone bites, get on a call with their scan open. Walk the findings, ask what a new customer is worth to them, and do the arithmetic out loud: if a customer is worth £800 and we add six a month, the retainer pays for itself several times over. Then state the offer paragraph from lesson 3, verbatim, and stop talking. Silence closes more deals than clever answers.
